ATL to DFW Update

Our load was late again this morning. The load was to be ready at 0100. I woke up and called dispatch at about 0230 and was told that they had about 20000# on the trailer then and that it shouldn't be too much longer. I went back to bed and we were awakened by the annoying sound of the Qualcomm message signal at about 0345. The load was ready. I jumped up, got ready to go and before I could get inside to get my paperwork, the office ringing my telephone to let me know that the load was ready, and then, they sent another message. Another case of, we ran late so you have to hurry, I guess.

Anyway, I ran inside, picked up my paperwork, hooked to the loaded trailer, caught my log book up and off we went. DFW bound. The rain had finally stopped, I thought, we got about 30 miles west of Atlanta and it started again but really didn't last long. We are now about 40 East of Jackson and the weather is actually pretty nice.

Dispatch contacted us a bit ago and asked if we could hook a loaded trailer when we get to Dallas and head straight to Columbus. They want us in Columbus by 1400 tomorrow. That shouldn't be problem if all goes well. That can be a pretty big "if" though, in this industry. Traffic, weather, police, scales, Breakdowns, wildlife on the road, etc.. We should be in Dallas at about 1730 and then that will give us about 20.5 hours to get to Columbus...1075 miles. What we will do out of Columbus is unknown at this time, but my guess is that they have a plan of some kind, in their heads.

I mentioned break downs as a possible delay. I have been introduced to a new website called Find Truck Service. I certainly have no desire to breakdown but I do look forward to using this site if and when I do. As you know if you read this site often, I do most of my own maintenance work, but in the event I should need help on the road, I now know where to go to find help. Be sure and use the site, bookmark the page and refer to it often, or at least as often as needed.

In closing, we hope that you can find it in your budget to help with a small purchase or a donation in support of our mission.
We have launched into a couple of apparel stores so that everyone can show their support of the 912 Truck. Click here to show your support, or go to www.printfection.com/912truck. Another Update For 08/08

We stopped in Little Rock for fuel at about 7:00 pm, left there about 7:15 and we are now on our way to Carson again. We have one more planned stop, other than driver changes, and that planned stop is Albuquerque, NM. Ah yes, lovely, friendly, New Mexico.

Anyway, had a lot of good comments and looks in Little Rock at the Petro. I just never had any idea how the truck would stop people in their tracks as they are walking through the parking lot. I passed out about 7 pocket constitutions and 1 Glenn Beck, Common Sense book. What a great stop that was.

Oh, am I taking donations? You Bet, click on any of the donate buttons on this page or go to Stop the Destruction of America and use one of the donate buttons there. We are merely trying to cover costs of materials we are passing out to awaken folks.

08/08 Updare

Sorry for no posting yesterday. We got to Martinsville at about 1200 noon, dropped the loaded trailer and headed back to Charlotte, NC. Stopped in Madison, NC for lunch, then a 2 mile walk. We finally arrived back in Charlote, near the airport at our terminal, showered and we were actually asleep by 7:30 last night. Good thing too.

Our load to LAX, Carson, CA, was ready at 0400 rather than 0600. Anyway, we left Charlotte terminal, after a safety check of the trailer and truck, at about 0430 and headed west on 74. We stopped in Candler, NC for fuel and moved on. We are now in Knoxville, TN and our next planned stop is Little Rock, AR at about 6:00 or so pm. From there it is on to Albuquerque, NM for more fuel then on to Carson. We expect a 8:00 pm Sunday evening arrival in Carson, though that is tentative at this point. We were actually allowed 44 hours which would make it 1230 or so.

I wish those of you who read this would read the last 3 comments on the last post. The vitriol is spewing. The hatred of America, and what she stands for, is deeply seeded in our society and it will take a long time to reinvigorate our young folks through the teachings of our founders and their principles and values. It has taken over 100 years for the "progressives" to nurture that seed that was planted over 100 years ago. A daily prayer for those who hate us, (the movement), is in line.

Please feel free to contribute to the cause by clicking on any of the donate buttons on this page. We are only trying to defray the costs of the educational materials on the proposed health care bills, the cost of books like Beck's Common Sense, and for the pocket constitutions and the book called "The 5000 year leap. These are all great teaching materials and valuable resources for us to pass to the folks with which we speak.

08/03 Update

Well, after sitting all day in Miami, we received a call at about 5:00 pm and had a load dispatched from Miami, Fl(British Airways) going to Orlando, Fl(British Airways). The load was to be ready at 7:00 pm and to deliver in Orlando at 8:00 am on Sunday morning. No problem, we hooked to an empty trailer and headed for the Miami airport. The pickup was literally only 3 miles away but I am always a little apprehensive about driving a semi truck and trailer into an airport facility, when we don't know where we are going and what to expect. Anyway, we got in okay, got loaded, no problem and off we go to Orlando. We headed north on I-95 and had planned on stopping in Vero beach for dinner. We got within about 60 miles of Vero Beach and received n "emergency" message from Dispatch. It seems that British Airways needed us to return to the loading dock so that they can add some more freight to the load. WHAT!!!!? Man, we were both hungry and were looking forward to getting out of the truck long enough for a meal, fixed by someone else. Oh well, we turned around, headed back to Miami, and Tina fixed dinner in the truck. We got back to Miami about 10:30 pm, they spent 15 minutes removing freight and making room for the new freight and off we went, back on our way to Orlando.

Since the Orlando delivery couldn't be made until "8:00", and we were very tired and only about 4 hours from delivery, we drove north about 1/2 way and found a rest area to park for a few hours for a nap. Got up about 4:00 am and went on to Orlando. Once again, a new delivery point, in an airport, always brings apprehension so we were cautiously optimistic, but forged on to make a timely delivery. No problem, we got to our delivery point at about 6:30, no-one around so another nap was in order. Got up at 8:00, still no-one around, checked dispatch orders, and it seems that after our initial contact from dispatch when we were told about an 8:00 delivery, our actual dispatch order indicated a 10:00 am delivery. Not real unusual for that to happen bet every time it does I just wonder why people can't be honest...ALL THE TIME. But I digress. Back to bed for a couple hours and I checked at 9:30 am and sure enough they were there. I checked in with receiving and backed into the dock where, 2.5 hours later, 12:00 we were unloaded.

we went back to our terminal, again about 4 miles away and dropped our empty trailer, met with a friend who drives for the same company and visited for a bit. While standing around talking, a fella in a parking lot sweeper drove up, got out of the unit he was driving and screamed, SAVE THE CONSTITUTION. We found out this this guy had been to every taxpayer revolt in a 50 mile circumference of Orlando that he could get to and another interesting fact. He had just, in December, filed bankruptcy on a business that employed 4 plus himself. He hadn't asked for a bailout, help, or any other relief from our government but decided to climb back out of the hole, while paying his debt, on his own. Hey Chrysler, GM, Citi Bank, AIG, B of A etc, etc, take a hint, learn a lesson here.

Anyway, after about 45 minutes in the blazing sun, we decided we had better call dispatch and find out if we would be getting a dispatch out of Orlando anytime soon. Not only would we not get one Sunday night but in the words of the dispatcher on duty, he hoped that we would be out of there by Wednesday morning when he comes back to work after having 2 days off. So, we, the friend and my wife and I headed for our house about 70 miles west and spent the day at the house. The friend left last night but we are still here, relaxing, waiting to here from dispatch.

I called them at about (;40 this morning and still not looking good, but would see what they could do. We'll see.
